Art Practice
As an artist and educator, it's important to create artwork for yourself, as well as the students you teach. It's important not to see creating as a job, but as a break and a creative outlet. As I come closer to my NCAD graduate show I understand this statement even more.
Artist Statement
My Granny used to say that her gifting me a colouring and a packet of pencils as a child was the reason I fell in love with, and pursued Art and Art Education.
Art and creativity has been a fundamental within my life since before I could walk.I have found countless pictures and creative projects I had made, or given up on throughout my home, and been reminded of the many not too conventional artistic surfaces my young Fine Art brain decided to experiment on. (to my mother, I am still sorry about the wallpaper.)
My love for creativity branches across a handful of other creative interests such as music, which come naturally to me from my upbringing in a very musical family, and short story and essay writing, where I channel the ideas I cant seem to put into images, and create them through words.
In my practice now, I tend to range across a variety of multi media projects and interests. Such as; Painting, Video, Collage, Sculpture, Installation, Performance or Interactive work.
I believe you never stop learning and improving, so why limit yourself to only learning and improving on practice in Art or one area of creativity.
