Teaching Practice
Throughout my time in college I have had the opportunity to broaden my understanding and ability through four unique placements covering both primary and post-primary education, and had many opportunities to take part in events, workshops and activities to further engage students in the arts.

Philosophy of Teaching
Teaching is a partnership, a rich interaction between the teacher and learner, built on trust, respect, and the shared pursuit of knowledge. Every student has the potential to learn and thrive when given the right tools and encouragement, as an educator it is our job to foster this potential in all of our students.
Art has been a core part of my life since I was young. I have countless memories of creating, imagining and exploring my interest and passion for art. Thanks to educators who encouraged me to continue to learn and hone my craft, I have been able to achieve the opportunity to hopefully provide this same support to my own students as I step into the shoes of those who guided me.
My personal teaching philosophy revolves around mutual respect, support and being yourself. Being aware of my own limitations and strengths allows me to offer my best to my students, who in return can meet me on a more honest and supportive level. I strive to create a comfortable space within my classroom, acting like a 'hare's corner' within the wider school community, where students feel they can enter and be themselves, where they can explore their creativity and indulge in the knowledge of past artworks and history.
Not all students can draw right off the bat, but all students have the potential to become amazing artists and people when given the space to believe in themselves.
